Tokyo Ghoul is a horror/psychological/dark fantasy anime that is set in an alternate reality where ghouls - individuals who must eat humans in order to survive, live undercover and amongst normal humans, hiding their true nature to evade pursuit from the authorities.
Tokyo Ghoul was created by Sui Ishida. It was serialized in the magazine Weekly Young Jump between the years September 2011 and September 2014. As of August 2014 it has been collected in fourteen tankobon volumes. The story has been adapted into an anime that has had two seasons by far and is expecting a third soon.
